This was supposed to be funny, but then I got tired. I also don't expect anyone to to look at this. Ain't no thang. Have pity on me. I spent two months in a Japanese Language intro class, which was more like an anime club consisting of 3 teenagers, 2 college instructors, and 1 very stressed out Japanese college student. It's hard to focus on anything else. (Link at the bottom)

Although a list of music and films would probably be more substantial, this is somewhat less embarrassing.
So, here you go. A frightening look inside the mind of someone far too old for this shit. This is more of a "what I read for fun" list.

"I really like you, Midori. A lot.”
“How much is a lot?”
“Like a spring bear,” I said.
“A spring bear?” Midori looked up again. “What’s that all about? A spring bear.”
“You’re walking through a field all by yourself one day in spring, and this sweet little bear cub with velvet fur and shiny little eyes comes walking along. And he says to you, “Hi, there, little lady. Want to tumble with me?’ So you and the bear cub spend the whole day in each other’s arms, tumbling down this clover-covered hill. Nice, huh?”
“Yeah. Really nice.”
“That’s how much I like you.”

1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.
2. Tag six people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you. No. Just, no.
01. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up.
An empty glass which was recently full of glorious skim milk, the stack of 20 essays I have left to grade this weekend, a copy of Feminism is for Everyone by Bell Hooks, my Droid X, and ummm...the ceiling fan?
02. What's the 3rd line on the 26th page of the book closest to you?
"The women of the late '60s and early '70s who clamored for abortions had seen the tragedies of illegal abortions, the misery of forced miscarriages as a consequence of unwanted pregnancies."
03. What are you wearing now?
Shiny silver cowboy boots, ripped jeans, gray t-shirt
04. What's your occupation?
Poor Virginia turd-miner
05. What do you hear right now?
This
06. What's your favoriteguilty pleasure treat?

07. Are you hungry?
Not anymore, but Rich just walked in offering a McDonald's Big Breakfast, and although the thought of knocking back a rubbery sausage and snotty egg makes my insides hurt, I may steal his biscuit.
08. Write the first word that comes to mind:
Collywobbles
09. Dog person or cat person?
Get off the bed! Can't you see I'm trying to work, you dumb animal?
10. What song is currently stuck in your head?
11. What was the last thing you bought?
These, and no, I didn't pay that much for them.
12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'm going exactly where I want to go...in August.
13. Where do you see yourself in 5 minutes?
Unconscious
14. Last book you read?
Something by Sarah Vowel. Currently making my way through Tina Fey's book.
15. What are you doing this weekend?
I have about $30 in my account at the moment, so...grading essays, inhaling coffee, taking Drew to the park...
16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
Lock John Cage and Brian Eno in a room for 24 hours with a hammer, some nails, a glass harmonica and a dismantled futon. That one.
17. How are you?
I'm sure most of you have been forced to witness me bitching about this already.
18. What are you doing tomorrow?
Didn't you just ask me what I'm doing this weekend?
19. What are you looking forward to the most?
See #12

I'm sure quite a few of you have it by now.
Anyone care make me feel better about pages 45-57? I mean, it's one thing when she's playing a character. I'm willing to accept appropriation when it's presented through satire, but this is downright offensive.
I'm not sure how to feel, really. You know I love Amy. I know it's meant to be funny, and a majority of the book is hilarious. The chapter on Making Love is a dream come true.
But can't we be funny without constantly perpetuating stereotypes about Native Americans and Chinese people?
